Mood: Summer-news

Ehiiiiiii, are you still there? So yes, it has been a while, but it's just because I wanted to find out the best staff ever for having my blog with a great restyling and it needed more time than I thought. After sooooooo many interviews I met these guys who are making now a great job for me&you! They have promised me that the new out-fit will be ready at the end of September, so guys, now that I know I'm in the best hands ever, we can just relax and enjoy our Summer, and wait for the next month :)

So, I wish all of you a great&funny&sweety&rocking Summer, see you very soon with a lot of news and great pics for the new Mari in Milan beginning.

MOOD: No panic!

Ok, ok, niente panico! Pare che abbia esaurito lo spazio a disposizione in questo blog per pubblicare le foto (ma c'era un limite?), per cui posso solo scrivere testi. Ma non preoccuparti, sto cercando di capire come posso fare per continuare con il mio solito blog fatto di testi e immagini chiamando tutti i miei amici nerd (magari mi puoi aiutare anche tu? Scrivimi una email a: mariinmilanblog@gmail.com), quindi nel frattempo la cosa migliore che possa fare è cancellare i miei post più vecchi. Questo significa che hai ancora tutto il weekend per vederli, nel caso te li fossi perduti, poi li posterò solo sulla mia pagina di facebook, ok? Nel frattempo, ti auguro un weekend pieno di sole e allegria :)

Ok, ok, no panic! It seems I have finished the MB pictures space in this blog (was there a limit?) so I can't use images anymore, but only write texts. But don't worry, I'm trying to see what I can do calling all my nerd friends for a help (maybe can you help me too? FASHION: Pucci from my closet!

Oggi stavo pulendo l'armadio e indovina cosa ho trovato? Questo foulard di Emilio Pucci me l'aveva regalato una mia cara amica ed ex collega, mi disse che l'aveva comprato in un negozio vintage di seconda mano. Come succede in molti casi infatti, la gente che compra in questi negozi spesso non riconosce (o non conosce del tutto) famose marche di moda degli anni passati, e così la mia amica l'aveva comprato pagando pochissimo! Dopo anni, non mi ricordavo neanche più di averlo, ma sai come succede, a volte facendo le cose più noiose (come pulire per esempio) puoi avere delle belle sorprese :)

Today I was cleaning my closet and guess what I founded? This Emilio Pucci scarf is a present from a very closed friend and ex-collegue of mine, she told me she bought it years ago in a second-hand shop. As it happens in many vintage shops, people who buy don't recognize (or even know) many fashion labels of the past, so my friend bought it paying really nothing! After years, I didn't remember to have it, but as you know sometimes making the most boring things (like cleaning) you can have nice suriprises :)

BOOKS&Co: 4/4 marks!

Cosa rende speciale un libro? Io direi:

   1) ti piace la storia

 2) ti piace lo stile

  3) ti piace l'autore

                          4) conosci personalmente l'autore

Bene, per quanto riguarda il libro L'estate di Altachiara di Ombretta Bertini sono super fiera di poter segnare tutti i quattro punti! Il libro è davvero avvincente, comincia in maniera soft e poi, pagina dopo pagina, cambia ritmo e diventa avvincente, non puoi smettere di leggerlo perché devi assolutamente sapere come va a finire. Lo stile è perfetto, ipnotico e galoppante, e cosa posso dire dell'autrice Ombretta Bertini? Siamo mooooooooooolto amiche, abbiamo lavorato insieme qualche anno fa e ci sentiamo sempre. Ci vediamo ogni mese con le due nostre altre ex-colleghe-e-amiche-speciali in città per delle cene esilaranti a base di gossip e ottimo vino, cene sulle quali vige il patto ferreo di omertà totale su quanto ci raccontiamo! Ombretta è sempre la più brillante, e come scrittrice so che scrive anche delle bellissime poesie. Tienila d'occhio perché molto presto sono sicura che pubblicherà qualcosa di nuovo, e sono certa che sarà speciale!

What makes a book a special book? I would say:

Well, about this book L'estate di Altachiara by Ombretta Bertini I'm proud to mark ALL 4 points! The book is simply amazing, it starts in a kind of soft way and then, page after page, the rhythm changes into a very thrilling story and you can't just stop reading because you want to know what happens and how it ends. The style is perfect, hypnotic and running, and what can I say about the author Ombretta Bertini? We are very goooooooood friends, we worked together years ago and still in contact every day. We use to meet two our friends and ex-collegues for special evenings in town (usually very gossip&fun-dinners) and Ombretta is always the most brilliant! She is simply perfect and writes also beautiful poems. Follow her because very soon she will publish something new and I'm sure will be special :)

FOOD: Cucumbers/sofa/TV

For years I could not eat cucumbers (too heavy for my stomach!), but I finally understood that it's ok if I just cut very well its peel. So during the Summer in my refrigerator I always have some cucumbers, they last for days and there are many recipes with them. This one is very fast to do, good and perfect when you want to eat+watch your favourite TV programme on the sofa!

For 2 people:

.2 cucumbers

.2 teaspoons of lemon juice

.2 tablespoons greek yogurt

.2 tablespoons cream-cheese (Philadelphia is ok)

-salt

-cut cucumbers in small pieces, add salt and place in a bowl

-mix with a wooden spoon greek yogurt, salt, lemon and cream-cheese

-eat together with toasted bread 

IN TOWN: Cloudy&Meringues!

Dopo così tante settimane passate a Ibiza (... :) dove c'era sempre il sole, mi piace svegliarmi e vedere fuori dalla finestra un cielo così bello pieno di nuvole! Hmmm... ok, in questi giorni farò meringhe per tutti!

After so many weeks spent in Ibiza (... :) where it was always sunny, it's nice wake up and see out of the window a such beautiful cloudy sky! Hmmm... ok, this week I want to cook meringues for all my friends!

FOOD: A lemon is not a lemon...

Quando Gertrude Stein scrisse che "Una rosa è una rosa è un rosa" (una citazione che, ne sono certa, ha fatto impazzire un sacco di gente nel tentativo di capire cosa intendesse realmente dire!) secondo alcuni voleva semplicemente dire che le cose sono quello che sembrano. Ma non sono per niente d'accordo! Questa mattina stavo facendo colazione con una tazza di tè e una fetta di limone e proprio nel centro della fetta ho visto delle cose divertenti. Nella prima foto, se guardi esattamente nel centro della fetta di limone, la vedi la sagoma stilizzata di un piccolo delfino nero con la coda sulla destra? E nella seconda foto, non sembra un piccolo coniglio nero con il muso e le orecchie verso destra? Le vedi anche tu o sto diventando pazza? ;)

When Gertrude Stein wrote that "A rose is a rose is a rose" (a quotation that, I'm sure, made many people complitely crazy wondering the meaning!) probably she just wanted to say that things are what they are. But hey, I don't agree! This morning I was drinking a cup of tea with lemon and I noticed fun things in the lemon slice. In the first pic, if you see in the middle of the lemon slice, do you see a small black dolphin shape with the tag on the right? And in the second pic, do you see a small black rabbit with the face on the right? Do you see them or am I crazy? ;)

DECO: Welcome Pino(cchio)!

Un nuovo amico è arrivato in casa mia: Pino! Piccolo ma grande abbastanza, mi fa ridere senza essere di troppo o ingombrante. E quando non mi serve, lo metto semplicemente nell'armadio o in bella vista sull'alzatina della frutta (è troppo carino da nasconderlo!).

A new sweet friend has arrived in my house: Pino! Small but big enough, makes me smile but is not bulky or awkward. And when I don't need him, I just put it in the cupboard or with the fruits (he is too nice to hide him!).

Un nuovo gioiello fatto a mano per la mia linea I.w.y.b? Ho fatto questa collana con 3 ciondoli molto semplici: uno ovale dorato con delle croci, un piccolo ciondolo portafoto antico e uno di legno dal Kenya. E' un modello basic, ma ogni ciondolo è collegato a un ricordo speciale...

A new hand-made jewels of my line I.w.y.b? I have done this necklace with 3 simple charms: an oval golden trinket with small crosses, an old very small photo-charm-holder and a wooden charm from Kenya. It's very basic but every charm is a special memory...

IN TOWN: Quick-pic-nic

Ti piace mangiare all'aperto in Primavera/Estate? A me sì! Ma non hai sempre il tempo di organizzare/comprare/cucinare/impacchettare il tuo cibo? A volte neanch'io. Quindi, quando voglio solo godermi un pranzo informale all'aperto e comprare qualcosa da qualche parte a Milano vado sempre alla California Bakery. Hanno diversi ristoranti/negozietti in città, tutto è molto buono, sano e già pronto da mangiare :)

Do you like to eat-open-air during the Spring/Summer? I do! But haven't you always the time to organize/buy/cook/package your food? I don't too, sometimes. So, when I want just enjoy my lunch open-air and buy something somewhere in Milan I always go to California Bakery. They have many restaurant/food-shops in town, the food is very good, healthy and already-ready-to-eat :)

E' proprio vero che non si devono necessariamente buttare via le cose quando si rompono! Ho comprato questa collana molto carina da Accessorize l'anno scorso, e questa mattina, mentre la stavo indossando, ho rotto il gancetto di una foglia che ora cade verso il basso. Ma adesso che la vedo così mi sembra ancora più bella di come era prima, no?

It's true that you don't have always to trash broken things! I bought this beautiful necklace in Accessorize's shop last Summer and this morning, while I was wearing it, I broke the hook of a leaf. But I think that now it's even more better than the original one, isn't it?

DECO: Home-sweet-home

Dopo così tanti giorni passati a Ibiza è bello tornare a casa e riprendere la mia vita. Ho pensato e progettato tante nuove cose che voglio fare, creare, scrivere, cucinare e vedere. Ma prima di tutto ho bisogno di sentirmi di nuovo a casa mia, ho appena comprato questi meravigliosi tulipani rosa/arancio e il salotto si è illuminato. Adoro questi fiori!

After so many days I spent in Ibiza it's nice to come back home and start again my life. I have planned many new things I want to do, create, write, cook and see. But first of all I need to feel at home, so I just bought these beautiful orange/pink tulips and the living-room is full of colours. I love these flowers!

IBIZA: For a (life-size) tanned skin...

Se cerchi un posto dove gli alberi e l’erba arrivano fino alla spiaggia fondendosi in un paesaggio meraviglioso lambito dal mare devi andare a Las Salinas. Se cammini sui bassi scogli tra la spiaggia e il mare puoi vedere la sabbia con delle scie rosa corallo, dovute alle conchiglie che si rompono sugli scogli e che si confondono nella sabbia che diventa così rosa chiaro. Inoltre durante questo periodo, quando la spiaggia non è ancora presa d’assalto dai turisti, fanno timidamente la loro comparsa i nudisti che vogliono avere ogni centimetro della pelle abbronzata. Quindi, sì, posso dire che Las Salinas sia davvero una delle spiagge più al naturale di Ibiza :)

If you want a beach where trees and grass are mixed with sea and sand this is Las Salinas. If you walk on the rocks where arrive the waves you can see beautiful small smashed shells in a magic clear pink powder. Last but not least during this month on the beach people are naked for a very natural tanned skin. So, yes, I can say Las Salinas is very natural beach :)

IBIZA: MY best address!

Se sei a San Antoni, la città sulla costa nord di Ibiza, non perderti Tulip, un bar molto carino proprio sul lungomare. Ci sono andata con degli amici dopo una lunga e calda giornata di mare per un paio di cocktail e sì, è ora il mio indirizzo preferito della città. Tetto di palme, lampadari di cristallo, cuscini a fiori ovunque, amache e tende di Marimekko! Cosa vuoi di più? Ah dimenticavo, il migliore mojito di Ibiza ;)

If you are in San Antoni, the city in the north of Ibiza, don’t miss Tulp bar, right in front of the sea. I went there after a very long/hot-beach-day with some friends for a couple of drinks and yes, it’s my new fav-one here. Palm roof, crystal lamps, flower pillows, hammocks and Marimekko awnings! What else? Ah, yes, the best mojito of Ibiza ;)

IBIZA: Just close your eyes...

Ti alzi presto, le ultime notizie, corri, ufficio, incontri, chiamate, lavoro, la spesa, cucini, organizzi, pulisci...ed è già di nuovo sera e ti sembra di non aver fatto niente per te. Allora ricordi quella spiaggia con quei lettini a baldacchino-soffici- sulla-spiaggia, chiudi gli occhi e ti sembra di essere ancora lì...

Wake up early, news, running, office, meetings, calls, work, shopping, cooking, planning, cleaning...and it's already evening and it's like you have done nothing for you. Then you remember that beach with those amazing soft-sofas-on-the-beach, close your eyes and it's like you are still there...

Mi sono sempre piaciuti i fari e so che ce ne sono molti nei quali si può anche dormire come un piccolo albergo speciale. Questo è il bellissimo faro sulla costa nord di Ibiza, a Portinatx. Chissà quante tempeste avrà visto negli anni, quante navi avrà aiutato con la sua luce di notte, quante storie potrebbe raccontare...

I have always loved lighthouses and I know there are many where you can sleep in like a very special small hotel. This is the beautiful one in the deep north in Ibiza island, Portinatx. And I wonder how many storms it saw, how many boats it helped with its light in the night, how many stories it could say...
