FOOD: Tea-break

Oggi a Milano fa un freddo tremendo, sono infatti previsti gelo e neve! In casa mia ci sono 19°C ma sento un freddo come se ce ne fossero -6°C. E' l'ora di bere qualcosa di caldo, meglio con dei baci di dama e un paio di marron glace (nella top/10 dei miei biscotti/dolcetti preferiti in assoluto!)

Today in Milan is veeeeeeeery cold: the weather forcast says cold hair and snow! In my house there are 19°C and I feel like -6°C. It's time to drink a hot tea, better with small baci di dama biscuits and marron glace (they are in my top/10 favourite biscuits/sweets!)

DECO: Pink bird

Se offri qualcosa da bere prima di cena il 99,9% delle persone ti chiedono un bicchiere di vino rosso (in inverno) e bianco (in estate). Penso che sia semplicemente perché il vino fa parte della nostra cultura, del nostro paese e della nostra tradizione: in ogni città si trovano infatti diversi tipi di vini, tutti degni di nota (ed anzi, raccomando caldamente un tour di degustazione ;). Anche a me piace bere un bicchiere di vino quando cucino e intrattengo i miei amici, il problema è quando non si finisce la bottiglia e il tappo poi non si può più riusare. Ho comprato quindi questo bel tappo di design, rosa strong. Si chiama Bouchon Noineau, disegnato da Pititas Waiwiriya per il gruppo Sentou Edition. Troppo carino!

If you ask to your friends what do they want to drink before dinner, here in Milan 99,9% of them will reply you a glass of red (Winter) and white (Summer) wine. I think it's simply because wine is part of our culture and country: in every town of Italy you can find and drink different types and qualities of wine (it's warmly reccomended a wine-tasting-tour ;). I also like to drink wine while I cook and talk with my friends, the problem is when you don't finish the bottle and its cork doesn't work anymore. So, I bought this super fun pink cork. Its name is Bouchon Moineau, by the designer Pititas Waiwiriya for Sentou Edition. It' soooooo nice!

BEAUTY: Colour block

Smalti colorati, praticamente un'ossessione! Ne ho di tutti i colori, questi sono quelli che sto usando in questi giorni. Sì, anche quello giallo, perché no? ;)

I'm totally addicted to coloured nails! I have all the colours and in now I'm using these. Yes, also the yellow one, why not? ;)

IN TOWN: Street karma

Ci sono persone che girano il mondo per trovare un senso alla propria vita, altri che studiano vecchi libri scritti da santi, filosofi e saggi, altri ancora che spendono tutti i loro soldi per guru e sette. E poi c'è chi semplicemente condivide il proprio motto per la felicità, come il "Signor Illy" (quello del caffè) con questo piccolo cartello che ho visto in strada...

There are people who go around the world for findind the reason of their lifes, people who study old books written by saints, philosophers and sages, people who spend money for guru and religious sects. And there are people who just spread around their happiness saying, like "Mr. Illy" (a coffee company) with this small notice I saw in the street...

IN TOWN: Surreal sky

Che giornata oggi! Alle 9.00 ero in pigiama a casa di mia sorella (abitiamo sulle stesso piano) a farmi dare del latte per colazione perché l'avevo finito e mentre ero nella sua cucina ho sentito una scossa di terremoto!!! E' stato un attimo, giusto un brivido! I lampadari hanno oscillato leggermente, poi più nulla... Ho aspettato un po', ma fuori sembrava che non fosse successo niente. Ho guardato in alto fuori dalla finestra, e c'era un cielo meraviglioso, surreale!

What a day! This morning at 9.00 I was in pyjamas at my sister's home (we live at the same floor) because I had finished the milk for breakfast and while I was in her kitchen there has been a earth tremor!!! It happened in a while, just a shiver! The lamps swayed, then it ended... I hesitated, but outside it looked like nothing was happened. I watched outside my window and in the sky there was a beautiful sky, almost surreal!

BOOKS&Co: Falling cloudberries

Posso stare delle ore in una libreria. Mi piace l'odore dei libri, le centinaia di copertina allineate che ti guardano come se fossero dei nuovi amici da conoscere, il rumore delle pagine, il silenzio. Quando studiavo spendevo sempre tutti i soldi del mese in libri (oltre che in aperitivi, ma questa è un'altra storia!), tanto che quando poi tornavo dai miei per il weekend loro erano sempre scioccati dal mio appetito da morta di fame... Oggi ho comprato questo nuovo libro "Falling cloudberries. Ricette di famiglia dal mondo" di Tessa Kiros. Si tratta di un libro di cucina, ma è anche una sorta di autobiografia dell'autrice. E' una donna molto affascinante e viene da una famiglia altrettanto affascinante. Sua madre infatti è finlandese, suo padre cipriota, lei è nata a Londra, poi ha vissuto in Sud Africa, Sydney, Atene e in Messico. Ora è sposata con un italiano e vivono in Toscana. Questo libro ripropone le ricette più interessanti di tutti questi paesi dove Tessa Kiros ha vissuto, e ogni ricetta è accompagnata da aneddoti divertenti e teneri ricordi. E come ogni libro di cucina che si rispetti, ogni ricetta è illustrata con fotografie meravigliose. Non vedo l'ora di iniziare a cucinare!

I can spend hours in a bookshop. I love its smell, the houndreds of covers of the new books that look at me as new friends, the sound of the pages, the silent. I remember that when I was a student I used to spend all my monthly money for books (and aperitivi, but this is another story!), so when I was, during the weekend, in my family house my parents were always so surprise of my appetite... Today I bought this new book: "Falling cloudberries" by Tessa Kiros. It's a food book, but is also a kind of biography of the author. She is a beautiful woman and she has an amazing and interesting international family. Her mother is Finn, her father is Cypriot, she was born in London, than lived in South Africa, Sydney, Athen and Mexico. Now she is married with an italian man and they live in Tuscany. So in this book there are recipes from all these countries, with nice and sweet memories about them. And like in every kind of food book I love, every recipe has beautiful pictures. I can't wait to start cooking!

Quando ero una ragazzina ricordo che era un incubo trovare un paio di jeans che ti stessero bene. Questo era non solo perché a un certo punto della tua età il tuo corpo si sta trasformando, per cui non sei magra e non sei grassa, non sei alta e non sei bassa, ma anche perché i jeans in commercio erano tutti unisex,  non c'era differenza di modello per uomo e donna. Quindi, quando finalmente trovavi il jeans che ti stava bene, doveva durare anni! Oggi le cose sono diverse e puoi scegliere tra tantissimi modelli diversi: classici, aderenti, gamba larga, doppia tasca etc. Questo è il motivo (o la scusa?) per il quale quando vedo un bel paio di jeans non resisto, devo averlo! E questi sono solo alcuni dei modelli che ho nell'armadio...

When I was a teenager I remember that was soooo difficult to buy a well fitting jeans. This was not only because when you are a teen your body is, let's say, "transformer", so no-fat-no-slim, no-small-no-tall, but also because in the past the jeans was unisex, so with the same style for boy and girl. It means that, when you finally founded a jeans with the perfect shape&size for you, it had to last years! Today things are different and you can choose between many different types of jeans: basic, skinny, curvy, long, small etc.  This is the reason why (or excuse?) when I see a nice jeans I can't resist, I must have it! And these are just "some" of my jeans in my closet...
