Ho comprato questo libro sulla vita e le opere di Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. Che vita! Nato in una delle famiglie più antiche e nobili francesi, si è rotto le gambe in due incidenti e da quelle rotture mal curate non è poi più cresciuto, rimanendo molto piccolo di statura. Amava i cavalli, le corse, la velocità e i suoi amici erano pittori, ballerine, attori. Ha vissuto a Parigi in quell'epoca in cui tutto era arte, vitalità e creatività e sfidò a duello persino il pittore belga de Groux che aveva osato insultare la sua arte. Amava anche molto la fotografia e nel libro ci sono alcuni auto-scatti divertenti. L'alcol e una vita dissoluta lo portarono poi alla morte ancora giovane, ma fece in tempo a produrre dipinti meravigliosi e disegni straordinari, importanti testimonianze dello stile della vita all'epoca.
I bought this small book about one of the most crazy artist of the '800, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. What a life! Born in one of the most noble and old French family, he broke his legs when he was a baby and after that he didn't grow up. He loved horses, competitions, the speed and his friends were painters, dancers, actors. He lived in Paris where there was that magic and unique atmosphere and he fighted a duel with the Belgian artist de Groux. He also loved photography and in the book there are many self-portraits taken by him very fun. Alcohol, a dissolute life, he died still young, but also made beautiful paintings and drawings, very important about the life of that period.
